FAROE ISLANDS SECTION ANALYSIS & CONSTRUCTION

After a visit to the open-air museum “Frilandsmuseet”, a structure was chosen and
a corner section was taken. The museum houses a village of original Faroe Islands structures that have been moved off of the islands and placed in Denmark. Through on-site measuring, research, and joint-making trials, a 1:1 section was designed and constructed using 100% recycled materials as they did on the islands, using traditional building techniques and joinery. Materials include recycled floorboards, used steel, grass, birch bark, and locally sourced stone.
